Quality Certificates

Our continuous search for improvement in our quality systems has earned us the most important certifications in the agrifood sector. Our analysis protocols are carried out by first class independent and authorised laboratories.

We apply Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to the entire agricultural production, thus obtaining citrus fruit produced in a safe and healthy process, while respecting environmental, economic and social sustainability.

Albenfruit currently has the following quality certifications:

IFS Certificate

The IFS (International Food Standard) is a food safety system developed by German retail distribution and French distribution (wholesalers and retailers), and accepted by Dutch and Italian distribution.

BRC Certificate

The BRC standards are intended not only for food organisations, but also for organisations that produce packaging materials for food purposes. BRC (British Retail Consortium) brings together most of the trade organisations operating in the UK, including food vendors.

Global GAP

GLOBALGAP (originally EUREPGAP) is a private body that establishes voluntary standards through which agricultural products can be certified all over the world. The purpose is to establish a single Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standard, applicable to different products and with the capacity to include the entirety of agricultural production.

Traceability

The application of a traceability system enables us to fully monitor and know the treatment that the fruit has received from its origin to the final customer, thus ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Environmental responsibility

At Albenfruit we are committed to the environment and to the reduction of CO2, emissions, minimising our carbon footprint as much as possible. This concern and commitment has driven us to install a photovoltaic power station on the roof of our main building: A move that enables us to save 30% of the power we consume.

Albenfruit has participated in the “Energy Saving and Efficiency in Industry” Programme, which carries out energy improvement projects with the aim of promoting a low-carbon economy and responsibility for the environment.

The Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) has subsidised several of these projects:

  • File IDAT1/2021/403 “Albenfruit 2 Self-consumption photovoltaic installation”, within the IDAE AUTOCONSUMO programme co-financed by NEXT GENERATION funds as part of the European Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. It consisted of the installation of a photovoltaic installation for self-consumption on a rooftop with 693 modules and an installed power of 315.31 kWp, with which a reduction in CO2 emissions of 208.92 T CO2/year has been achieved.
  • File E4IN12/2017/183, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It consisted on replacing the fluorescent lamps in the preservation chambers with LED type lights, achieving an initial reduction in consumption of 60%, equivalent to 30744 kWh, thus obtaining a 11.84 T CO2/year decrease in emissions.
  • File E4IN12/2016/193, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It consisted on the installation of translucent panels on the roof of the pre-calibration area, eliminating the need for luminaires for at least 8 hours/day, which is equivalent to 24860 kWh, achieving a 22.64 T CO2/year reduction in CO2 emissions.
  • File E4IN12/2014/130, which has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It consisted on the installation of a frequency converter for a 200 Kw compressor and the conditioning for using the residual heat from the cold chambers by managing it through a computer system. This has led to a 8.21 T CO2/year reduction in CO2 emissions.
